Placer Care Coalition, Inc. (PCCI) is a non-profit organization that was formed in January 2001. The Board of Directors is made up of caring individuals from our community and representatives from four local agencies that assist the homeless and working poor of Placer County, namely: The Lazarus Project Inc, Roseville Homestart Inc, St. Vincent de Paul, and What Would Jesus Do?. The Coalition was formed as a fundraising organization which pooled resources in order to more efficiently raise funds so that the participating agencies could continue their much needed services. We are proud members of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce and we appreciate the partnerships that have developed between our local businesses and the agencies that rely on their assistance.
The Lazarus Project Inc, Since 1998, The Lazarus Project has been the only non-profit organization to provide low or no cost housing for homeless men and women in our community. For those men and women in our community who have little to no income and are on the verge of becoming homeless, The Lazarus Project has become their last hope for housing before being sent to a shelter or to live on the streets. For those men and women in our community who have little to no income and are homeless, The Lazarus Project has become their only and best hope for returning to a life fulfilled as a contributing member of our community. Within our homes our staff creates an environment of success where program participants can attain economic and social well-being by overcoming the issues that contributed to their situation. In short…we provide a hand up – not a hand out.
What Would Jesus Do? Inc provides meals to the homeless and working poor in Placer County. We also provide referrals and transportation for medical appointments, Employment Development Department offices, and Veterans’ agencies. In conjunction with St. Vincent de Paul, WWJD helps with the operation of a medical clinic which sees over 1000 patients a year and provides free prescriptions to those in need.
Roseville Home Start Inc provides transitional housing for up to a year in a drug and alcohol-free environment for families with children, helping them with personal counseling, money management, and educational skills. Home Start’s on-site residence provides a 99 bed facility that can serve up to 28 families at any given time. They strive to see these families gainfully employed and into their own homes and continue to support 10-12 graduate families each year. Home Start has been providing hope to homeless families with children from Placer County and beyond since 1995.
St. Vincent De Paul provides a wide range of services to the working poor and the homeless in our area. Our Food Locker feeds over 800 families each month. The Dining Room offers a hot lunch five days per week. Our Medical Clinic provides medical care and prescriptions for the uninsured and underinsured. Lastly, the Thrift Store supplies free clothing and furniture for families in need.
For the 2018 “Raising Spirits” fundraiser on Sunday, April 22, 2018 our goal is to raise $55,000 to split evenly among the organizations. We can only do this with sponsorship, auction items, attendance, and financial support from local businesses.
We are an all volunteer non-profit organization. As such we have little overhead costs.
